11am on Thursday the 6th October 2005 at Bodmin Fire Station
Cornwall County Fire Brigade and the Environment Agency will be putting their new Environment Support Vehicle ‘on the run’ at Bodmin Fire Station on Thursday 6th October at 11am.
The ESV carries all the special equipment that firefighters and Agency Officers need to deal with an incident that could threaten the environment or human health. Such incidents include chemical or oil spills, fires creating contaminated fire water, road traffic accidents as well as various agricultural incidents.
The state-of-the art anti-pollution kit on board the ESV includes: pop-up tanks that can used to collect pollutants; temporary portable dams that can stop chemicals getting into rivers; drain blockers that allow any spillages to be mopped up before they run down the drains; and special booms and pumps to clean any oil off a river or lake.
The ESV is funded by the Environment Agency and Cornwall County Fire Brigade. The new one will be based at Bodmin Fire Station.
