Fire At Surf Shop

Bank Street, Newquay at 30/11/2005 22:02

Fire engines from Newquay, St Columb, Perranporth, St Dennis, Truro, Bodmin, Redruth, St Austell and Camborne were called to a shop fire last night at 10pm. The fire spread through the two storey premises into the shared roof space with the shop next door.
Properties in the vicinity were asked to keep their doors and windows closed as firefighters battled the blaze for several hours.
The fire was brought under control at around 1am and crews began to 'damp down' at 1.45am.
Due to the ferocity of the fire it was too dangerous for firefighters to enter the building. Because of this it is still unknown whether anyone was involved in the fire.
A full investigation is taking place and the Arson Task Force have been informed as it is being treated as suspicious.
