Calf Dies In Shaft

Zennor at 09/12/2005 08:44

Firefighters from St Ives were called to a calf down a shaft yesterday evening. Because of poor light and difficult access it was too dangerous for the firefighters to assist and they were forced to wait until this morning.
At daylight today the firefighters from St Ives and the rescue tender from Camborne returned to the calf but there was nothing they could do. The shaft had partially collapsed and the calf had sadly passed away.
