Think Before You Park!

at 04/02/2019 09:59

Purple Watch from Liskeard Community Fire Station have made a plea to all drivers to park with care after they were unable to drive their fire engine through a town centre street.

The crew were on their way to carry out home fire safety checks for local residents in the Varley Road area when they have to abandon attempts to get through and had to proceed on foot, parking 5 minutes away.

“We tried unsuccessfully to drive up the lane to carry out some home fire safety checks for residents in the Melbourne Road area” said a Fire Station spokesperson.

“The fire engine was prevented from getting there due to cars being parked too far out from the kerb, making the road too narrow for us to pass. Can we ask everyone, irrespective of where you live, to park your car with a suitable space for a fire engine to pass. In an emergency situation this can slow or possibly prevent our attendance, putting lives at risk.”
