The Critical Control Centre received an emergency call at 14:45 to a small fire at the rear of an address in North Quay in Padstow. They initially mobilised a major pumping appliance and a 4 x 4 from Padstow.
After receiving several more calls and being informed the fire was spreading, a further 2 appliances from Wadebridge and St Columb were mobilised along with a wholetime officer.
Once arriving on scene, our crews requested further assistance. In total, appliances from Padstow, Wadebridge, St Columb, Bodmin, Launceston, St Austell, Newquay and St Dennis attended this incident along with 5 wholetime officers.
Fire crews used breathing apparatus, a main jet and a hose reel jet to tackle the fire, with assistance from an Ariel Ladder Platform.
The fire had spread to the roof of a public house, measuring 25 metres by 50 metres and consisting of three floors.
The incident has now been scaled back. Crews are remaining on scene to damp down and monitor.
Update: 19:55
Two appliance will remain on scene for a further 30 minutes to monitor for hotspots before leaving the incident ground.
Update 2230hrs: All fire crews have left the scene. A fire investigation team will return tomorrow morning to continue their investigations.
