Firefighters Assist Paramedics by Removing Patient From Derelict Hotel

Ambassador Hotel, Mount Wise, Newquay at 12/01/2006 19:18

One appliance from Newquay attended following a request from paramedics to assist them in removing a patient with a life-threatening condition from an upper floor of a derelict hotel. Parts of the hotel are currently occupied by squatters.

The patient was located on the 2nd floor and an aerial ladder platform, also from Newquay, was requested to assist.

Once access was gained, paramedics stabilised the patient and they were then lowered down to ground level by the aerial ladder platform by 1956hrs. The road was closed due to the aerial ladder platform blocking the road, because of its size.

No other information, such as the patient details or condition, are available from the brigade.
