Smoke Alarm Alerts Neighbour To Problem

Dale Road, Newquay at 20/01/2006 20:39

2 appliances from Newquay attended a report of a smoke detector actuating with signs of smoke from a house. The crews found that smoke from food that was burning on a cooker had caused the alarm to sound. The cooker was turned off and the smoke was cleared using a positive ventilation fan.

This incident highlights the importance of having working smoke detectors in your home. Because of the early warning of a problem, the fire brigade was called and prevented, what may have been, a serious fire.
