Two fire appliances remain at the scene with fire crews continuing to use two monitors and two hosereel jets to damp down the fire. The high volume pump is no longer in use and is being made up.

After spending 7 hours on scene, crews are making good progress. The incident has now been scaled back to 5 appliances, with the other special appliances remaining on scene. Critical Control is in the process of sorting further crews to attend as relief to firefighters currently in attendance at the scene of the incident.
Three roads in the surrounding area are closed at this time and are expected to be for the foreseeable future due to crews requiring access and space to work from. Please try to avoid the immediate vicinity if possible.

*Update at 22:30*
Critical Control received a total of 19 emergency calls and mobilised to a barn fire on Wadebridge Road, Bodmin at 19:17 this evening (18/07/19).
There are now seven appliances, four wholetime officers, three water carriers, an aerial ladder platform and a high volume pump in attendance from Bodmin, Wadebridge, Lostwithiel, Padstow, Delabole, Liskeard and Newquay, with a crew from Devon also on scene. In total, there are approximately 60 firefighters on scene at this time.
The main barn measures approximately 80 metres by 40 metres and consists of five bays, two of which contain around 1000 bales of hay which firefighters report are well alight. Crews are using hosereel jets to try and prevent the fire from spreading further.
All persons are accounted for.
Crews request that if you live in the area, please keep windows and doors closed for the duration of the fire while they bring it under control.
