Firefighters from Callington Fire Station will be dining out of lunchboxes and drinking squash with children from Callington Primary School on Wednesday 8th February.

The firefighters are visiting the school with the fire engine to give the children fire safety tips and teach them the dangers of fire. They will also be showing them around their bright red shiny fire engine.

The fire safety messages they will be promoting will include the importance of a working smoke alarm, how you must make an escape plan just in case you have a fire and how to stop, drop and roll!

The firefighters will also be having lunch with the children and answering any questions they may have about Cornwall County Fire Brigade.

“We look forward to meeting the children from Callington Primary School and teaching them vital fire safety tips .We hope they will take these messages back to their parents or guardians and help us to promote how to stay safe from fire” said Station Officer Kevin Rookley

He added: “I know I’m also going to enjoy my homemade crust less sandwiches, cheese straws and orange squash!”
