6 Pump Fire - Gas Cylinders Involved

One fire appliance Bodmin and one appliance from St Austell were mobilised to a fire involving cylinders and a static caravan.

On arrival, the fire crews confirmed the static caravan was well alight and a number of LPG gas cylinders were involved, some of which were exploding. Further assistance was requested and fire appliances from Bodmin and St Dennis were mobilised, with supporting appliances from St Austell and Launceston.

The fire is spreading to a stack of hay bales and there is a barn containing cattle next to the stack.

Firefighters are currently cooling the gas cylinders and preventing the fire from spreading further.

A further two pumps have been requested and they are from Mevagissey (were standing-by at St Austell) and Liskeard (providing fire cover for Bodmin).

Update 1630hrs: The fire has been extinguished. Twenty LPG cylinders were involved, eleven of which exploded. Firefighters prevented the fire spreading to the barn.

The cause of the fire is accidental.

All fire crews have left the scene.
