Fire In Part-thatched Public House

Fire appliances from Mullion, Helston, St Keverne and Tolvaddon along with specialist support from Falmouth and St Just are responding to a fire involving a deep-fat fryer. The fire is located in the kitchen of a two-storey public house, measuring 30 metres by 5 metres, with part of the roof thatched. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are fighting the fire and preventing it spreading to the roof.

Traffic in Churchtown, Mullion is gridlocked and drivers are advised to avoid the area whilst firefighting commences.

Update 1100hrs: Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have extinguished the fire and prevented it spreading to the roof. The fire crews are carrying out salvage work.

Update 1210hrs: The oil from the fryers have been drained and removed from the building. Firefighters are ensuring that the scene is left in a safe condition. The fire appliances have been moved to allow the road to reopen.
