At 12:07 Critical Control received a 999 call from the occupant of a premises reporting that there was smoke inside the property. One appliance from Padstow Community Fire Station and one appliance from Wadebridge Community Fire Station were mobilised, as well as two Flexi-Duty Officers.

After mobilising, Firefighters from Critical Control were able to give pre-arrival safety advice to protect the caller.

On arrival crews found the property to be smoke logged, which was later found to be due to overcooked food in a microwave oven. Crews used positive pressure ventilation (PPV) to assist with clearing smoke from the property.

The cause was accidental and the fire was confined to the microwave oven.
