At 18:18 Critical Control received an emergency call from Ambulance Control reporting a person had started a fire inside their property and blocked themselves inside. The incident was immediately made Persons Reported and due to the life risk four appliances from St Austell, Mevagissey and St Dennis Fire Stations were mobilised along with a Flexi-Duty Station Manager. The police were also requested and officers attended immediately.

On arrival two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus (BA) rescued one casualty from the property who received emergency care by paramedics who were quickly on scene. The property was ventilated and the casualty left in the care of the Ambulance Service.
