Our Critical Control Centre received a 999 call from a resident on Tresco, Isles of Scilly, at 11:53pm. The caller reported a fire in a property, a heavily smoke logged ground floor and smoke issuing from the front door.

Our partnership with the Isles of Scilly Fire & Rescue Service enables our Critical Control Operators to alert the Firefighters on the islands instantly.

Crews from Tresco were quickly in attendance, an additional crew from a St Marys made their way to Tresco and a Wholetime Officer from Cornwall provided support to the IOS Officer via telephone and radio.

Firefighters using breathing apparatus entered the property to extinguish a fire in the lounge. Further Firefighters re-entered the property to expose voids in the ceiling, checking for hotspots and ensuring the fire had not spread.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue will be supporting the Isles of Scilly Fire Service to conduct a fire investigation.
