We received a 999 call reporting a person trapped in a drain (confined space). As the casualty was reported to be uninjured, an appliance from Hayle Community Fire Station was sent to investigate along with a Technical Rescue Tactical Advisor.
On arrival crews confirmed the casualty was trapped approximately 15 feet down, with access through a drain measuring 0.5m x 0.5m. Specialist Line Rescue Units were requested from Tolvaddon and Bodmin Community Fire Stations. An ambulance was also requested as the casualty had a head injury.
Crews used a Safety at Height And Confined Spaces (SHACS) Pack to extricate the casualty. They were then assessed by an On-Call Firefighter who is a full-time Paramedic who also gave first aid.
Two firefighters were decontaminated on scene as a precaution.
