Critical Control received several 999 calls at 13:57 to reports of a bonfire out of control in Stenalees. An appliance from St Austell Fire Station was initially mobilised. Once on scene, they confirmed that the fire had spread to 2 vehicles and a row of hedges and requested assistance. Following this, a further appliance from St Austell was mobilised along with a wholetime officer for support.
Crews remain on scene along with Western Power who are providing assistance with a mains power cable which is involved. Please avoid the vicinity of the area at this time while crews carry out their work.


Update 1600 Fire is now out. One appliance is remaining on scene dealing with hotspots.

Please help protect your community and local fire crew by ceasing all controlled burnings and bonfires until further notice.
