Fire - Persons Reported

Critical Control received a 999 call reporting smoke coming from a neighbours property and that the person was inside. The incident was made 'Persons Reported' and three fire appliances, two from Truro Community Fire Station and one from Tolvaddon Community Fire Station were immediately mobilised. A Station Manager was also mobilised as an Incident Commander. Critical Control urgently contacted Police and Ambulance Control Rooms and both sent resources immediately.

The first crew arrived on scene and forced entry into the property which was smoke logged. A priority message was sent back to Critical Control stating "Flat smoke logged. Confirm Persons Reported". A fourth appliance was initially mobilised to assist until it could be established crews had sufficient resources at this incident. This was later returned to Tolvaddon Community Fire Station to provide fire cover for the Camborne-Pool-Redruth area.

Crews searching the property located the occupant who was rescued and taken to safety. Crews administered first aid to the casualty who was suffering from smoke inhalation until the arrival of an Ambulance.

An initial fire investigation has identified the cause to be from cooking. The fire was accidental and confined, although there was smoke spread into communal areas.
