At 2255 a call was received to a fire in the open. One appliance from Bude was mobilised to the incident. On arrival they found a large unattended bonfire. The crew then asked for a second appliance to assist due to the nature of what was being burnt. The crews used hosereels to extinguish the fire. Due to what was being burnt on the fire, crews then had to decontaminate on scene.

The crews were on scene until almost 0200 hrs.


Update 13/05/2020:
The hazard involved were the corrugated roof panels on the bonfire which were suspected to contain some level of asbestos. Samples were taken and will be tested at the lab today.
