One appliance from Camborne attended and the crew extinguished an unattended bonfire using one hosereel.
General Fire Safety Advice:
Bonfires should be supervised at all times so that if they start to spread, action can immediately be taken to stop it.
Some means of extinguishing the fire should be immediately available, such as buckets of water.
Bonfires should not be lit close to buildings and other combustible materials.
Consideration should be given to neighbours and the nuisance the smoke may cause.
Some means of summoning the fire brigade should be easily available, should the fire get out of control. A mobile telephone would be ideal, provided the signal is strong, or a nearby landline telephone as an alternative.
To prevent an unnecessary attendance of fire appliances, it is advisable to contact Fire Control at Truro at the start of the bonfire and then again on completion, giving the address and contact details. The number to call is 01872 320205.
