Fire Involving Two Caravans, Eight Vehicles, Various Out Buildings and Waste Land

At 01:46 this morning several 999 calls were made to a large fire off of Green Lane seen from St Erth. One appliance from St Ives was mobilised to investigate. Shortly after a 999 call was received from an occupant of Green lane stating that they had a fire in their caravan and believed it might have spread to some near by vehicles. On receiving this information, a second major appliance and a smaller pumping appliance from St Ives were mobilised to the scene. Two minutes after the arrival of firefighters on scene a request for ‘Make Pumps Three’ was made, crews confirmed that two caravans and multiple cars were well alight. A third major appliance from Tolvaddon was mobilised to the scene along with a Water Carrier from Helston as there were poor water supplies in the area. At 02:11 crews had two hose reel jets and two breathing apparatus under rapid deployment. At 02:55 crews confirmed along with the two caravans that eight vehicles were well alight and that the fire had also spread to a shed and an area of wasteland. Gas cylinders on scene had been cooled and considered safe and that two-breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera was in use. At 03:45 Firefighters confirmed that the fire had been extinguished, a fire investigation confirmed that the fire had started accidentally. Firefighters remained on scene damping down hot spots until 05:20 this morning.
