At 18:33 Critical Control received the first of five 999 calls reporting a fire in the area of Predannack Airfield. One major appliance and a light pumping appliance from Mullion Community Fie Station were mobilised. On arrival crews found a large area of high gorse alight being fanned by high winds. As one 999 caller request the fire service and police, we informed Devon and Cornwall Police who attended to assist with road closures.

Crews requested an additional major appliance which was mobilised from Helston Community Fire Station as well as a further light pumping appliance which was mobilised from St Keverne Community Fire Station. A Wholetime Station Manager was also mobilised.

The fire was extinguished at 20:02 after firefighters used beaters. Arson is suspected.
