The first of several 999 calls was received at Fire Control at Truro at 2247hrs, reporting a derelict building on fire. The fire involved a building of 1 and 2 floors, with the single storey section totally involved in fire and the 2 storey section heavily smoke logged.
Just over 40 firefighters from Redruth, Camborne, Falmouth, Newquay and Truro attended with crews wearing breathing apparatus using 2 jets and 2 hosereels to bring the fire under control by 2355hrs.
Crews remained in attendance for some time damping down and ventilating the building.
Arson is suspected and the police are now dealing.
