Fire In Disused Warehouse

On reports of a fire in the old disused Jewsons yard, initially appliances from Penzance and St. Just were mobilised. On arrival there was found to be a warehouse measuring 40 x 20 metres well alight, a further message was received at Fire Control that there were 'Persons Reported' at the scen, further resources were required, a further appliance from St. Ives, the incident support unit and aerial ladder platform from Truro also the operational support vehicle from Falmouth attended. Teams of firefighters were committed at the incident and two jets were used to extinguish the fire, crews also used positive pressure fans to ventilate the building. A complete search of the building was carried out and it was confirmed that the area was clear and there were no persons at the scene. Arson was supected. Devon & Cornwall Police, who were in attendance, have been informed and will be making further enquiries.
