At 18:21 the brigade were called to a reported fire in the roof of a thatch cottage. Two appliances from Launceston and one appliance from Callington were mobilised to this incident. On arrival the first crew found the fire to be well alight and asked for a further appliance to be sent. Therefore an appliance from Liskeard was mobilised also the Operational Command Unit from Truro, and the Operational Support Vehicle from St Austell and an aerial ladder platform from Newquay was also requested. This is an L shaped single storey thatched cottage measuring approximately 10 metres by 8 metres. The fire was extinguished using 10 breathing apparatus, 4 ladders, 5 jets, 2 hose reels and a hydrant and open water. Crews also assisted occupier with salvage of property.
