At 15:26 Critical Control received a call to a barn fire in the area of Downgate.

Crews from Callington and Liskeard community fire stations were mobilised alongside a wholetime officer.

On arrival crews requested one additional appliance and a water carrier. An appliance from Launceston and water carrier from Wadebridge were mobilised.

The fire involved a barn measuring approximately thirty by ten metres, containing 350 to 400 bales of hay and straw, crews were detained removing the contents and extinguishing them using hosereel jets, helped by the farmer using agricultural machinery.

Relief crews from Looe and Launceston attended later in the evening, the fire was extinguished by 0100 hours, with crews returning to their home stations.
