One fire appliance from Hayle, two fire appliances from Tolvaddon and one fire appliance from Penzance are in attendance at a fire involving rubbish inside a derelict building, measuring 20 metres by 20 metres.

Firefighters are using breathing apparatus and two jets to extinguish the fire.

The advice to people in the area is to keep windows shut, as there is a significant amount of smoke.

Update 1500hrs:
Firefighters are making good progress with extinguishing a large amount of rubbish alight within the derelict building. A wall has been removed to assist with access to the fire. Machinery is being used to turn over the waste and hosereels are being used to dampen it down. The incident will be ongoing for a few more hours.
