One fire appliance from Fowey and one fire appliance from St Austell were mobilised to a report of a smell of burning in a room.
The fire crews found that there was a fire in the chimney stack of a three-storey building, measuring approximately 20 metres by 20 metres.
A further pump and an aerial ladder platform were requested to assist the two crews already on scene. The second pump from St Austell and the aerial ladder platform from Truro were sent.
Firefighters, some working on the roof, had extinguished by 2200hrs using one hosereel jet.
