Hotel Fire

Make Pumps 8 Hotel Fire, Charlestown.

At 18:36, Critical Control received a 999 call informing them of a fire at a hotel in Charlestown.

Two appliances from St Austell Community Fire Station and a Wholetime Officer were immediately mobilised.

Upon arrival, the first attending fire appliance made a request for two further appliances to be mobilised and confirmed the rear of the building was well alight. A further Wholetime Officer was also mobilised.

As the incident progressed, further resources were mobilised to the incident and at its height, 8 appliances, 1 Aerial Ladder Platform, an Operational Support Vehicle, Incident Command Unit and 2 light vehicles were on scene, with a total crew of 54 on scene.

Crews from St Austell, Fowey, St Dennis, Launceston, Bodmin, Truro, St Columb, Wadebridge, St Mawes and Liskeard attended this incident.

All guests and staff were safely evacuated.

One appliance remains on scene this morning, assisting the brewery and monitoring hot spots. Two officers are also currently in attendance, carrying out a preliminary investigation to establish the cause of the fire.
