Over 50 firefighters from St Mawes, Truro, St Austell, Mevagissey, Falmouth, Bodmin and St Dennis attended a fire reported in the roof of a thatched cottage. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used 2 jets and 2 hosereels to fight the fire which totally involved the thatched roof of the cottage, measuring 10 metres by 10 metres.
The fire was brought under control by 1940hrs, leaving the roof and first floor totally destroyed by fire and the ground floor severely damaged by smoke. Firefighters remained in attendance overnight damping down, the last crew leaving at just before 1000hrs.
