Pumping appliances from St Austell and Bodmin, along with specialist line rescue teams from Bodmin and Tolvaddon responded to this incident.
On arrival firefighters discovered a casualty who was stuck down a mine shaft.
Line rescue equipment was used to rescue the casualty who was transferred into the care of the Ambulance Service.
