At 07:24 Fire Control received the first of multiple 999 calls reporting a fire at a café on Commercial Road, Penryn.

Two appliances from Falmouth Fire Station were mobilised along with a Wholetime Station Manager from Truro. On arrival crews found the building to be 100% involved in fire. Two firefighters in breathing apparatus were committed under rapid deployment to prevent escalation of the incident and stop fire spreading to adjacent buildings.

On arrival of the second appliance a total of four firefighters were committed using breathing apparatus. In total 2 hose reel jets, 1 safety jet and 1 covering jet were used. Crews requested assistance from Devon & Cornwall Police and National Grid to help safely resolve the incident.

The cause is undetermined at this time and a full fire investigation will be carried out by specialist officers tomorrow.
