Derelict Hotel Fire

Ten fire appliances along with breathing apparatus support, two water carriers, command support, breathing apparatus support and two aerial ladder platforms are currently in attendance at a derelict hotel fire. The original call at 15:56 stated smoke was coming from windows in the building is of three storeys and measures 50 x 30 metres. The incident has been split into 4 sectors, and 12 breathing apparatus, six jets and one hose reel jets were in use at 18:51. Services to the building have been isolated and due to roof collapse and missing floorboards the fire is being fought from the exterior of the building. At 20:49 the building was confirmed as well alight. The news desk will be updated as and when more information becomes available.

UPDATE at 23:59 HRS:

Good progress is being made extinguishing the fire. Firefighters are now focusing on preventing further spread of the fire. Relief crews have been sent to site and the incident is being scaled back to 6 appliances. There are no more details are available on this incident.

UPDATE at 0535 HRS:

Crews have worked overnight to ensure good progress is being made. The incident is now down to 4 fire appliances, 2 Aerial Ladder Platforms and the Incident Command Unit plus one Flexi Duty Officer.

UPDATE at 06:30 HRS: Cornwall Fire and Rescue service still remain on the incident ground, however attendance has been scaled back. Two Aerial ladder platforms, an Incident command unit, welfare unit, along with three major appliances are currently in attendance.

Update @ 2:15pm 01/07/2024
All appliances have now left the incident and it has been handed over to Devon and Cornwall Police and the building owners. Local crews will be revisiting regularly to monitor for any further hotspots.
We are not anticipating any further updates will be posted about this incident.
