The Critical Control Centre received a call reporting an alarm activation within a building at RCH Treliske. One appliance from Truro Fire Station was immediately alerted. Shortly after, a second call was received reporting a smell of smoke from the building during investigations by on-site staff. An appliance from Tolvaddon Fire Station was alerted.
On arrival the incident commander requested a further two appliances as smoke could be seen coming from the building. The building was not part of the main hospital and was not impacting on the care of any patients. An appliance from Perranporth and a second appliance from Tolvaddon Fire Station were immediately alerted.
Due to the number of appliances now in attendance two wholetime officers and an Incident Command Unit were also alerted.
A small fire was subsequently located within the boiler room and crews extinguished it using a CO2 extinguisher. Our Truro crew remained on scene until an engineer arrived and has handed the incident over to them.
During this incident appliances from St Austell and Hayle provided cover in the Truro and Tolvaddon area.
