Fifteen students from Liskeard Community College are spending a few hours at Liskeard Fire Station on Thursday 20 July to learn about the role of a firefighter and fire safety awareness.

The students assisted at Hazard Alley two weeks ago and now being given the opportunity to spend time at their local fire station.

Sub Officer Terry O’Rourke explained: “Activities the students will be doing include team building exercises that are used on the highly regarded Phoenix Project Course. These activities are aimed at improving self-esteem, self discipline and responsibility”

He cont: “Students will also take part in hose running and a breathing apparatus exercise”
