Firefighters from Falmouth are inviting everyone to join them in a charity swim from Castle Beach to Gyllyngvase Beach on Friday 11 August 2006.
The aim of the event is to raise money for the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund and Cancer Research UK. Swimmers are asked to pay £5 entry to swim the 800 metres and raise additional sponsorship.
“Firefighters from White Watch, Falmouth are already in training for the event” said Sub Officer Martyn Addinall. “Dressed in our wetsuits, as it is far too cold for anything else(!), we have been practicing our strokes. We hope others will be enthused by the challenge and contact us for sponsorship forms”
Registration for the event will be at 5pm. The Chief Fire Officer Matt Littmoden will be firing the starting pistol at 6pm. Prizes and Awards will be given. There will also be refreshments and a raffle.
Entrants must be aged 16 or over. Sponsorship forms can be obtained from Falmouth Fire Station or emailing maddinall@fire.cornwall.gov.uk or gnicholls@fire.cornwall.gov.uk
