Gorse Fire

Wheal Butson, St Agnes at 27/07/2006 16:13

One appliance from Truro and one appliance from Perranporth attended an area of gorse, approximately 25 metres by 10 metres including waste and a quantity of tyres. Crews used two hose reels and one jet to extinguish the fire, which was started by a bonfire going out of control.

It should be noted that if having a bonfire in these particularly dry conditions to ensure that it is on open ground with no danger of it spreading and that there is a means to extinguish it, if safe to do so, such as with a garden hose.
