This afternoon the brigade received a call regarding a super yacht which had a fire in the engine room. The yacht was approximately one mile and a half off, being towed by a tug to come into Plymouth. All the marine incident response was mobilised by Cornwall Fire Brigade and were standing by awaiting further information as to when we would be deployed. We liased with Coastguard and with the Yacht Master during this incident. At 16:27 the brigade were advised that the Yacht Master had stated the fire was out and the marine response from Cornwall Fire Brigade was no longer required - all resources were then stood down.
