Restaurant Fire

At 20:05 the brigade received a call stating that smoke could be seen issueing from a building in the area of the Norway Square and the Sloop car park of St Ives. This was followed by several repeat calls. One from the owner of the restaurant who was able to give the exact location. Three appliances from St Ives, one from Camborne, one from Penzance the aerial ladder platform, command support unit from Truro and the operational support unit from Falmouth attended. This was a three storey building measuring approximately 20 metres by 8 metres. The fire was in the first floor kitchen and was put out by crews using 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels and 2 jets. A thermal image camera was used to check for hot spots to ascertain if fire had spread. The fire was caused accidentally. All crews have now left the scene. No further details available at this time on this incident.
