Field of Corn Alight

On several calls for this incident, crews from Helston, Mullion and Falmouth were mobilised, on arrival further resources were requested and a further appliance from Camborne was mobilised. The crews found a field of approximately 3 hectares of standing corn well alight, firefighters used hosereels and beaters to extinguish the fire, the farmer who owned the field attended and created a fire break using his tractor. Arson was suspected. Devon & Cornwall Police have been informed.
