Cornwall County Fire Brigade will be raising money for the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund by rowing for 9 hours, 9 minutes and 9 seconds on Saturday 26 August.
Firefighters will be using three rowing machines in the relay event and each firefighter will be rowing for at least 15 minutes.
“I was involved in a similar event in Weymouth on 23 May and it was a huge success. With events like this Fire and Rescue Services help raise thousands of pounds for the Benevolent Fund each year. I decided to organise a similar event in Cornwall with the support of my colleagues” said Firefighter Chris Kendall
The Brigade will be promoting community safety and personnel will be on hand to answer questions from members of the public including how to become a retained firefighter.
The arson detection dogs Nelson and Charlie will also be making an appearance. There will be entertainment for all the family.
