Firefighters across Cornwall are supporting the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund on Saturday 16 September by holding a ‘car wash’ at their community fire station.
Following on from the success of last year's event, stations throughout the county are reaching for their sponges and buckets in a bid to raise funds for the UK's Fire Charity.
Stations taking part this year are: Helston, Bude, Saltash, Redruth, Lostwithiel, Falmouth, St Austell and St Dennis. St Mawes Fire Station will be holding one at a later date.
“Everyone is invited to come and have their car washed by their local firefighters and donate money to this worthwhile charity. The firefighters promise to get your automobiles clean and shiny in a bid to raise as much money as possible!” said Davinia Grist, Public Relations Officer
“Falmouth fire station’s ‘car wash’ really will be just like ‘car wash’. The firefighters will be wearing 70’s attire and the station will be blasting out music from the 70’s. We even have a pink Cadillac to really get us in the mood!” said Sub Officer Martyn Addinall, White Watch, Falmouth.
So if your car is looking a bit grubby and you are driving past any of the fire stations listed above this Saturday - call in and get your motor clean and shiny!
