Large Shed Fire

Advent, Camelford at 15/09/2006 21:34

On receipt of this call, appliances from Delabole, Wadebridge and Bodmin were mobilised, also the water carrier from Bodmin. The crews found a farm shed measuring 25 x 25 metres, well alight, the shed contained approximately one thousand large round bales, farm machinery and there were also some animals in the shed which were led to safety. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hosereels to control the fire and stop it spreading to a nearby building. The initial crews were relieved by crews from Padstow during the night, crews from Bodmin and Delabole returned during the day and used a jet to extinguish the fire and damp down. The last appliance returned at approximately 1700 hours. Arson was suspected. Devon & Cornwall Police have been informed and will be making further enquiries.
