Hoax Caller Puts Lives At Risk

Corporation Road, Bodmin at 26/09/2006 01:56

Whilst one crew from Bodmin was attending what turned out to be a hoax 999 call, they were not available to attend genuine 999 calls. This puts lives at risk.

The first crew investigated a report of a car fire in Corporation Road, Bodmin. Following a thorough search of the area nothing was found. There was also no trace of the caller who had used a telephone kiosk in St Marys Road to make the call. Meanwhile a genuine 999 call was attended by another crew from Bodmin to a report of smoke from a car on the A30 between Bodmin and Temple. This turned out to be steam from an overheated engine.
