Fire Appliances from Newquay, St Columb, St Dennis, Perranporth attended the fire along with Newquay's Aerial Ladder Platform and the Command Support Unit from Truro. Crews used two hosereel jets and one jet. At 23:00 the fire was believed out. Crews searched the building using 6 breathing apparatus. A full fire investigation took place and concluded that the fire started in a disused car port underneath the hotel where items of furnuiture and rubbish had been deposited. The fire was probably started deliberately. The fire also spread to a kitchen in the disused hotel above. Crews worked hard to ensure it did not spread any further and extinguished the fire quickly.
