Fire control operators from Cornwall County Fire Brigade have raised £692.90 for the Angela Harrison Charitable Trust.
Senior Fire Control Operator Sharen Thomas initially aimed to raise £150 but with the help of her colleagues the amount more than quadrupled.
“Instead of sending Christmas cards last year my department donated what we would normally spend on them. We then raised additional money from all our other colleagues by selling raffle tickets. The prize was a huge hamper that contained donated goodies including food and alcohol!” said Sharen Thomas
She cont: “I took particular interest in the Angela Harrison trust following the birth of my baby Lewis. In 2005, Angela Harrison took her own life, four months after the birth of her daughter Sophie. Angela had been suffering from a severe form of postnatal depression”
As a lasting tribute Angela’s family and friends decided that they would set up the Angela Harrison Charitable Trust. The Angela Harrison Charitable Trust is a registered charity which aims to help women and their families by raising awareness and to provide information on Postnatal depression/illness.
