Train Fire

Camborne Train Station at 02/05/2007 18:12


On receipt of this call, both appliances from Camborne were mobilised, on arrival it was found that the train was approximately 500 metres from the platform. All trains were stopped, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hosereel and CO2 extinguisher to extinguish the fire, which was confined to the engine compartment, the thermal image camera was also used at the scene. Brigade personnel assisted approximately 100 passengers from the train along the track to the platform. The trains own firefighting system had also activated. The fire was believed to have started in the alternator in the main engine compartment causing heavy smokelogging.
