Lives Put At Risk By Hoax Caller

Victoria Square, Bodmin at 26/05/2007 21:29

A callous hoax caller reported that two people were trapped in a car that had hit a lamp post and that one of them had stopped breathing.

Fire crews from Bodmin and special cutting gear were very quickly in attendance at the reported location, along with ambulance and police.

Following an extensive search of the area, no sign of any road accident was found and the call determined to be have been made maliciously.

Whist the emergency services were needlessly attending this hoax call, they were not available to answer genuine calls for help. This would have put lives at risk; the delay in resources attending from further away could be the difference between life and death.
