Firefighters from Cornwall County Fire Brigade are working with extreme sports company Point to host a skateboarding competition this weekend at Tuckingmill Skate Park.

Local extreme sports enthusiasts have been invited to take part by Point, who previously organised the ‘Point Park Jam’ at Hayle Skate Park in May.

“Firefighters at Camborne Fire Station wanted to work in partnership with Point so that they could engage with young people in the community. It is important that we create and sustain a positive relationship between the emergency services and the young people through events like these” said Sub Officer Simon Rutter

He cont: “In the past Cornwall Fire Brigade has hosted Flaming Sports Challenges in Hayle. Local schools took part in football and rugby matches alongside members of Cornwall County Fire Brigade and Devon and Cornwall Constabulary. The events proved to help us build stronger relationships with the young people and gave them a sense of enjoyment and achievement”
