On 22 July Cornwall County Fire Brigade sent its High Volume Pumping equipment to Castlemead, Gloucestershire with a team of nine specially firefighters. On Tuesday 24 July a team of seven from Cornwall County Fire Brigade were also sent to Gloucester to relieve the team that were already there.
The firefighters assisted and supported the flooding crisis in Gloucestershire.
“The teams from Cornwall worked tirelessly with other fire and rescue personnel and the military to assist with the flooding crisis, specifically maintaining the electrical transfer station at Castlemead” said Assistant Chief Fire Officer John Sweeney
Throughout the flooding crisis officers from Cornwall have been in contact with the Fire and Rescue Service National Coordination Centre and the Fire Service led Flood Support Team. The brigade has offered support in terms of specialist personnel and equipment in water safety management and water rescue.
John added: “Cornwall County Fire Brigade will continue to show a firm commitment to support and assist at a time of national crisis. The teams have displayed a commitment and professionalism which is a credit to themselves and to the Brigade”
