Following a successful Trident Challenge last year firefighters from Falmouth Fire station are running a second Trident Challenge during Falmouth Week.
The Trident Challenge starts and finishes at Gyllyngvase Beach and involves swimming around two buoys. The RNLI and the fire brigade will be providing water safety.
Sub Officer Martyn Addinall said: “Anyone over sixteen who can swim a distance of approximately 800 metres is invited to take part. The aim of the event is to raise money for the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund and Cancer Research UK. There is a £5 entry fee and after the event the café will be hosting a barbeque and party”
Leading Firefighter Grant Nicholls added: “We hope even more people will enter this year. Swimming is a great sport and we have a perfect venue - come along on the evening and join in the fun. Last year we raised £400 for the two charities, so it was extremely worthwhile ”
